The incident took place at Antica Trattoria Antonietta in Pisa, where Khushi Dubey and her friend were involved in an argument over payment with a waiter identified as Hossain. According to Dubey, the waiter allegedly told them to "f*** off" and made critical remarks about India during the confrontation.

Refusing to remain silent, the two women contacted the Carabinieri and demanded that the waiter apologize on camera for his remarks. The demand was eventually met, with Hossain stating, "I'm sorry for abusing India."
